Still Playing Catch Up

Today I spent most of the day at church working on VBS. In fact I hardly saw the kids at all. But we got a lot of stuff done and with VBS just around the corner on June 22nd - my birthday!!! - there is lots to do and not much time to do it. Chris is getting ready to direct Hayden's class. That should be fun for him. He is such a good daddy. Hayden asked tonight "Da, can you be my Sunday School teacher when I get into 8th grade?" Good ole Hayden, he really likes to plan ahead!

Church was so good tonight. Buster, our babysitter Michelle's husband, preached. He was great!! I think they are the sweetest couple on earth!!! SOOOOO young!!! They've only been married like a month or something. Anyway - back to Buster. His message was wonderful and he has a gift of story telling. He is such a blessing to the youth of our church. I can see Hayden growing up to be like him. Well, almost. Buster is so soft spoken and, well...you've heard Hayden.....

Hali went to VBS at Grace tonight. She had a great time. She went w/her life long bud, Morgan. Had was jealous when she found out that Hali had seen Lar Lars, Morgan's little sister. Not a week passes that Had doesn't say "can I go to Lar Lars house today?"

Speaking of Had, tonight when we were out to eat I had to pretend, or "tend" as Had would say, that she was an "old lady" and I was an "old mom." I had to refer to her as "Old Lady." She is such a goof ball! While we were there, Hayden saw his old friend Katie B from BMK. He went to their table to say "hi" but ended up going on and on about fishing. I think he talks about fishing 90% of the day. I had to send Chris to their table to collect the fisherman so these nice folks could eat. Chris is working on getting a private charter trip together so they can deep sea fish again. This time off the coast of MS. Hayden's dream: to catch a blue marlin.

Tomorrow I hope to be a slow catch up day. Maybe clean a little, maybe go through the week's worth of mail.... Until next time, here is a random picture from the trip.

A Day at the USS Alabama!

We made it back to Mississippi tonight around 9 pm. It was a L-O-N-G day. It took about 3 hours to get out of the condo this morning. 4 kids plus a big kid (Chris) takes lots of packing and cleaning up after. Chris took charge of loading the car, I took charge of cleaning the condo & searching every nook and cranny for matchbox cars, long lost underwear or anything else that would be stuck somewhere and missed once we made it home.
We arrived at the USS Alabama around 1 pm and stayed until 6! It was a long stay but there is so much to take in there. I'm sure you can imagine how Hayden reacted to everything. Everything was "cool" and "awesome!" Get him going about fishing, military, hunting - anything of that nature, and you've got a 2 hour conversation on your hands! He loved it all! Soaked in all the information his little mind could take. Had on the other hand....I was worried about her. Last time we visited she was one and in a stroller. Here we are two years later - still she seemed a bit small to handle all of the steep stairs located in the ship. Well - worry not - it didn't slow her down one bit. In fact, she didn't even want daddy, or "da" as my kids call Chris, to hold her hand. She can keep up w/the best of them. She is such a funny soul. Hali & Katie seemed to enjoy it as well as teenagers could. Some things were cool, some things were boring. But all in all everyone had a great time. And big kid too of course! I don't know how many times Chris has been there - but it never gets old to him. This is a man who could watch history channel 24/7 if he could find another way to pay the bills...
I enjoyed reading about war bonds and food rations. If seems odd how is seems that anything and everything goes these days - yet once there was such control....

Anyway - it is great to be home...ok - maybe not great - we will miss the beach - but we are home and home is great sooooo safe and sound and back into the groove. In store for this week: swim meet Monday, swim team practice M-F, swim lessons T-F, sales meeting Tues, meet w/CPA on Wed, Hali will be at Grace Baptist VBS all this week w/a friend, Chris & I both have VBS meetings tomorrow, oh yeah - and I guess he'll have to go back to work...... see - didn't take long to jump back into full swing. Well - I guess I'll go - Chris is snoring - he just finished studying his Sunday School lesson for the morning. Here it is midnight again. I'll post more pics from the trip later this weekend I hope!

Sandestin Trip! Why did it have to end?

I know it has been forever since I've blogged. It is just one of those things I say that I'll get too - but never do. Well, tonight is as good of a night as any to get back in the game. It is nearly midnight. Tomorrow morning we will be packing up and heading back to Mississippi. It has been such a wonderful trip. This is a place that I never want to leave. The kids love it here. Not one spat all week! Had learned to swim w/a life vest this week! She says "I'm Slimming" instead of swimming! Very cute! Hayden will talk fish talk w/anyone who will listen. Hali & Katie have been soaking in the rays and checking out boys.... Chris and I have enjoyed watching the kids enjoy the beach. Why or why won't he take the Florida Bar Exam???? What a wonderful life it would be!

We've enjoyed a bunch of great meals and different resturants. Hit the outlet mall. Spent a day at The Track go-cart place. Mostly though we hung out at the beach. The Sandestin Resort is WONDERFUL! Security here is top notch! You can't even pull into the resort without checking w/a guard. The resort has resturants and a shopping mall that Katie says reminds her of Paris. There are many things one could do here like golf, bike ride, tennis and so on - if that is your thing. Twice we've seen a HUGE firework display at night. Hayden told some girls at the pool that he had the fireworks set up for Hali's birthday. I don't know where on earth that came from. Goofy little man. I think he just wanted a way to bring up the fact that his sister is now a teenager! That is right - a teenager! UGGGG! Where did the time go? Well, I guess I won't go into that right now - too depressing... Tomorrow we will stop at the battleship in AL. Why, I'm not sure since we stop EVERY time we go this way, which is at least every other year. But Chris and the kids want to see it again - so we will. Katie has never been. Hayden I'm sure will have 100 million questions! Bless his little heart. He has so many questions! He is such a little sponge. He just soaks it all in. I'm off to bed. Hope to blog again this weekend!
